Item Description: Kothimor Khukuri (Presentation Kukri) This is a beautiful Kothimor Khukuri, the high-status ceremonial variant of the national weapon of Nepal. While the standard Kukri is a rugged tool of the Gurkha soldier, the Kothimor is defined by its ornate scabbard and is traditionally commissioned for military retirees, high-ranking officers, or as a prestigious gift. Core Components & Craftsmanship The Blade: Features the classic inward-curving profile with a heavy "belly" and a reinforced spine. The blade is embellished with fine surface engravings of traditional Nepalese patterns and structures. At the base of the blade, near the handle, is the Kaudi (cho)—the characteristic notch that serves as a blood-drop preventer and a structural stress-reliever. The Hilt: Crafted from polished water buffalo horn, featuring a central carved ring for grip stability. The pommel is finished with a brass or steel cap and a decorative finial. The Scabbard (Kothimor): This is the soul of the piece. Unlike the plain leather "service" scabbard, the Kothimor features a wooden core wrapped in royal crimson velvet. It is encased in high-relief chased silver-tone metalwork, depicting traditional floral scrolls and potentially the national symbols of Nepal.
