I am presenting my second Silver Stag Acquisition, a compact sibling to my previous unit that records my continued investment in the "biological-industrial" synthesis of American tool-making. To me, this piece represents a pinnacle of Rotational Slicing Geometry; it is a tool that documents how a radical distal curve can maximize the cutting surface of a short blade. I value this specimen as a primary record of my curation, specifically indexing my focus on Anatomical Retention and the unique Metallurgical Integrity of D2 tool steel.
My Design & Engineering Observations
My Choice of Blade Architecture (The Upswept Skinner):
Unlike the clip-point of my previous Silver Stag, I have opted for a radical Trailing Point or "Skinner" profile here.
My Technical Logic: The edge curves upward, extending the total length of the "belly" relative to the blade's spine. This provides me with a significantly higher Slicing Yield.
The Deep Finger Choyl: I have a pronounced curve at the base of the blade. This allows me to "choke up" on the steel, placing my index finger directly behind the cutting edge for maximum Mechanical Certainty during fine administrative tasks.
My Hilt & Organic Architecture:
I am looking at a hilt constructed from a Natural Elk or Deer Antler Crown.
My Mechanical Logic: The "Crown" (the base where the antler attaches to the skull) provides an integrated, flared pommel. This acts as my Anatomical Stop, locking the heel of my palm into the grip. It provides me with absolute Retention Certainty during high-velocity slicing maneuvers.
The Guard: I notice a brass finger guard that has developed a beautiful Verdigris Patina. This documents the environmental history of the piece and serves to prevent my hand from sliding forward onto the edge.
