This is an authentic Antique Talwar, dating to the 18th or 19th century. While it shares the general silhouette of your other Indian sabers, this specimen is distinguished by its pierced (perforated) disc pommel and a hilt that retains an "honest," dark historical patina. It represents a refined variant of the standard warrior's sidearm, where decorative metalwork was used to reduce weight without compromising structural integrity. Core Components & Engineering The Blade: A slender, single-edged high-carbon steel blade with a graceful, shallow curve. The surface shows scattered historical pitting and an uncleaned patina, suggesting it remains in its original found state. It features a single deep fuller near the spine, a "process-driven" feature that lightens the blade for rapid movement while acting as a structural rib to prevent lateral flexing. The Hilt (Indo-Muslim Style): An all-steel construction featuring several high-utility design elements: Perforated Disc Pommel: Unlike the solid discs on your Sakela Talwars, this pommel features a rhythmic pattern of circular perforations around the rim. Mechanically, this removes non-functional mass from the furthest point of the hilt, subtly shifting the point of balance forward to favor a more powerful "swing" in the cutting process.
