Item Description: Sosun Pattah (Lily Leaf Sword) This is a Sosun Pattah (also spelled Sosan Patta), a highly distinctive and rare Indian sword named for its resemblance to a lily leaf (Sosan in Persian/Urdu, Patta in Hindi). This specimen features a recurved blade that is characteristic of the form, combining a forward-curving "belly" with a point that inclines slightly upward. Blade: The single-edged blade is "Kopis-like," widening significantly toward the tip to concentrate weight for slicing and chopping. The forward curve (recurve) provides superb slicing momentum while maintaining the reach of a traditional saber. Hilt: This particular item is mounted with a Talwar hilt (Indo-Muslim style), featuring the iconic disc pommel and a protective knuckle guard. In some classification systems, this hilt style distinguishes the "Islamic" or Mughal form of the Sosun Pattah from the Rajput version, which often utilizes a Hindu basket hilt. Aesthetics: The graceful, leaf-shaped curve makes the Sosun Pattah one of the most aesthetically admired weapons in Indian martial history.
