Mayfield Bridge of Cowlitz, Chehalis and Cascade Railroad became unsafe in its old age. Farrow photo of the last train in 1955 shows that the crew has abandoned the head end locomotive and caboose. They are in a locomotive at the rear, pushing the heavy Number 20 across the bridge. When the leading engine was safely on the opposite bank, crew would walk across the bridge, get up steam and pull the rest of the train across.
