Coal mine was located at the end of National Ave. (presently area by Chehalis Brick Co.). circa 1910-25 Interior of mine, L to R: Fred Richards, Walter Graham (former mayor of Chehalis), Antone Busek, (410 Coal Creek Rd.), Mike Oppe, Jack the mule, Sanford Looomis-(State Street). Horace Giesey, John Vice, Tom Campbell owner, Note straw between collars to hold sand. Superior Coal Co. 1918. Bottom of sloap , 500 ft. from opening. Jack --friday nite Jack jumped in his car and was pulled up a 55 degree slope. Monday morning it took 3 men to load him. Jack worked also at the Chehalis Mining Co. on Coal Creek owned by Busek. Have negative. Have slides.
