Vern and Mary Roundtree's photo on world travels in 1996, with Christmas letter attached as follows. "Hello to family and friends. As you can see by the picture, we (Mary and Vern) finally went on vacation. A month long but seemed so very short -- but more about that later. First, as of this point in time, we and all five of the boys and their families are alive and well. Mike and his family are in Phoenix, AZ where he is an Air Traffic Controller at the Mesa airport control tower. Ron and his family are still in Kent, WA where he and Terry are real estate brokers. Mary is in excellent health. Vern is now in good health at 153 pounds. Picked up something in Egypt/Greece that in two months took him from 205 pounds to 142 pounds! Now back to 153 and feeling very good. We were very concerned for a while there. Plans to stay at 155 +/-. The floods of last year and this year mostly passed us by -- there was so much rain that it couldn't run out of the fields fast enough, so they were flooded and that got into our basement 2 inches or so but the river stayed away from our door. One time the river at Chehalis rose 65 feet. We hope this letter finds you and yours well and happy. We wish you all the best. Be cautious when you answer your front doorbell -- we may drop in to visit anyone, anytime now that there is no requirement to punch a time clock.
