Description

The Packwood Hotel on the left was built by Walter & Mattie Combs in 1911. The Packwood Cafe on the right was built in 1932 by Brook Haynes. The hotel is still used but the cafe burnt in September 1982 along with Bob's Trading Post which was erected just this side of the cafe. The white house on the left belonged to Sherman and Jessie (Anderson ) Combs. The huge barn beyond (current site of the Post Office) housed many horses and sat in front of the Rodeo grounds. Smith Street was closed off during the annual rodeos, between 1932 - 1938. Photo courtesy of Betty Blakely
