The final leg of a long journey was completed recently for a huge electrical component of the Satsop Nuclear plant project. This 490-ton stator, the stationary part of the generator, was shipped by rail from East Pittsburgh, PA, to the railroad siding at South Elma, then trucked to the plant site. Two large tractors pushed and three more pulled the special 160 wheel trailer on which the Westinghouse stator made the 3-mile trip from the siding. The move to the Satsop site was made March 28.
