Date Book Owned by Jeannette Latimer, New York Pioneer Negro Real Estate Agents, 1910. Jeannette owned this date book that advertised the firm of Philip A. Payton, Jr., "the Father of Harlem," who opened up Harlem to Black tenants. Finding apartments In New York City’s racist housing market was hard for Black families, and Payton started his business in 1900 to meet their needs.
