Copy of Incandescent Electric Lighting:Description
In 1890 Latimer wrote a revised and updated version of a book, Incandescent Electric Lighting: A Practical Description of the Edison System, first published in 1881. On the title page of this copy he wrote, “This was the first book on Electric Lighting published in the United States.” Latimer may have known William E. Sawyer, another electrical inventor, former Maxim associate, and author of the book’s first edition.
The book provides a detailed description of the Edison system of electric lighting, including technical insights on the design and operation of incandescent stations, and a discussion on the efficiency of incandescent lamps.
