Those evening bells those evening bells How many a tale their music tells Of youth and home and native clime When I last heard their soothing chime Those pleasant hours have passted away And many a heart that then was gay Within the tomb now darkley dwells And hears no more those evening bells And so twill be when I am gone That tuneful peal will still sing on When others bards shall walk those dells And sing your praise sweet evening bells O is not this a holy spot This the high place of freedoms birth God of our fathers it is not The holiest spot of all the earth Sarah Bailey
