Ladder-back armchair with four splats and a rush seat. Slats are slightly curved across the top except the top splat which is now flat. Rear posts are round turned and capped by urn finials. Front legs are round turned but with a turned oval at the top below the seat support. With short, truncated arms set back, ending in an outward curving partial scroll. Arms supported by a vertical element pegged into seat rail and doweled into the upper thick side stretchers. Legs and stretchers turned. All the stretchers (two in front, two on each side and one at the back) are swollen at center but plain turned. Painted black, worn.Made/Created

The bottom of the legs have been extended 7.6 cm presumably because of the removal of rockers. The top splat was presumably curved like the other three across the top. The black paint has blistered considerably throughout.
