Piece of Wood from AppomattoxDescription
Piece of wood, roughly circular in shape. It is purportedly from a limb of the apple tree under which General Lee surrendered to General Grant at Appomattox Court House, Virginia. It is a myth that Lee surrendered to Grant under this tree, but as Lee was seen standing under it at the time many believed it was where the surrender occurred and the tree was cut down and pieces distributed to various soldiers.Made/Created
