Beech wood bit brace (also known as a bitstock). With rabbited sides and a turned hand grip elbow. Has a cast iron ferule for a squared chuck or bit. Also has a brass chuck. The revolving buttons in these braces were examples of fine woodworking. They were "stayed" by either a cotter pin at its base or by a wooden pin through the hardwood shaft.Made/Created
