Sampler sewn by Sarah Ann Chamberlain. Brown, yellow, and cream silk threads on green linsey-woolsey background. Geometric border surrounding alphabet, numbers, and verse. The geometric borders are unusual for samplers, especially along the bottom. Possibly worked at the school of Mrs. Brunto (perhaps Mary Bruntin of Bristol).

Sarah Ann Chamberlain was born October 29, 1807 in Bristol. She was the second wife of Alexander Fossett, a veteran of the War of 1812. They had two children together before Alexander died in 1850. Sarah never remarried.
