Bethabara, which means "House of Passage", was the first Moravian settlement of today's Southern Province of the Moravian Church. Established in 1753, Betharaba led to the founding of Bethania in 1759, and the Moravian settlement of Salem in 1766. During the 1800's, mission work from the early North Carolina congregations spread into Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa.Artwork Details
