Scope and Content

The Lutz Family Papers contain documents, letters, and sheet music, miscellaneous handbills, and scrapbooks from ca. 1875 to ca. 1967. These pertain to Benjamin F. Lutz (Sept. 17, 1875 - July 9, 1955), his son John Henry Lutz (Oct 13, 1902 - June 9, 1969), and John Henry's daughter Patricia Ann Lutz Walter (ca 1935). The documents provide information about life in Lititz, including the Lutz Butcher Shop, Lutz Pool, Benjamin Lutz's compositions and his role in the Moravian Church Trombone Choir, John Henry's business activities, and Patricia's years at Lititz High School and Lebanon Valley College. The scrapbooks have several pages of news clippings about the 1957 fire in the Moravian Church as well as documents on the restoration of the church. Patricia's scrapbook has programs and photographs of her musical activities and her years at Lebanon Valley College,
