1997.244.194Description
A view from the floor of the surgical ampitheatre of University Hospital shows 9 medical staff (physicians, anesthetist, nursing student, and orderlies) standing behind and alongside a patient lying on a gurney; they are observed by two men in the stands. One surgeon is dressed in white drawstring trousers, a pull-over shirt, mask and cap, while the others wear long-sleeve white gowns over street clothes, with caps and masks. Two physicians wear gloves. The nursing student wears a student cap along with a short-sleeved gown over her uniform. A table with folded clothes or sheets sits in the foreground; the hexagonal tile floor is dirty and smeared, probably with blood. The anesthetist is identified as Dr. Fritz Winslow; the surgeon is Dr. S. A. Ashby.Photograph Details
