Two young women in fatigues stand outside wooden barracks buildings with a straw broom. On the right is 1st Lieutenant Ulla Compton; the woman on the left is unidentified. Lt. Compton was the only Johns Hopkins graduate serving in the 131st General Hospital in 1944.

Cleaning up around our barracks when we first arrived in England. Nurse on right is 1st Lt. Ulla Compton, only nurse in our outfit from Hopkins. She knew Mrs. Eva Darley, a [Maryland] University nurse, when she worked at Hopkins. (U. of Md. nurse not identified) 131st Gen. Hospital England 1944
