Sheldon Peck is one of the most influential folk artists in American history. His homestead is preserved by the Lombard Historical Society and is the oldest house in the village. No other family lived in the house until it was donated to the Historical Society. It served as a stop on the Underground Railroad. Peck was an ardent abolitionist, temperance advocate, and believed in universal education. His paintings now hang in many of the most important museums in the country, as well as many private collections.Collection
