Midwife notebook of Zsuzi (Susan) Krajnyik.Context
Zsuzi was Margaret Molnar's great grandmother who came from Vajan, Ung County, Hungary to the United States circa 1888. She walked Lorain to deliver babies and help with mother's work until the mother was back on her feet. She also set dislocated joints. She was a founder of the Hungarian Reformed Church and built a house for $400 at 1554 E 30th Street around 1904. She lived in the United States as a widow until her death at the age of 82 in 1933. She is buried at Elmwood Cemetery.
Krajnyik is the Hungarian spelling, but it was sometimes spelled as Kranyak, Kranyik, or Kragnak.Acquisition
