Scope and Content

Mr. Mathias D Dunlap Jr was born Feb 13, 1928 in Lorain, Ohio, the oldest of 14 children, son of Sophie and Mathias Dunlap Sr. He was a middle and high school athlete, a Korean War Veteran and Purple Heart recipient, and a security guard at US Steel for over 41 years. During his interview with the Lorain Historical Society, Mr. Dunlap details his childhood, his high school days, his career at US Steel, and changes over time in Lorain industry, culture and race relations.
