Context

Inside page includes copy of correspondence with Admiral King, in which the Canadian Legion had requested permission to change their name from U.S.A. Post No. 54 of the Candian Legion, Lorain, Ohio to read, "Admiral King Post 54 Canadian Legion. Admiral King stated, "I feel honored that my name has been chosen for this post and gladly grant permission to use my name in connection therewith." "History of Post 54: Early in the year 1933 several men residents in the City of Lorain, Ohio had informally discussed the possibility of forming a club composed of individuals who had served in the armed forces of the British Empire. Generally these were those who had served in the Canadian forces but in view of the fact that many residents of Lorain had served in the Imperial forces it was decided that a meeting be called for the purpose of getting these men together in order to consider the possibilities." Also includes history on Ladies Auxiliary Post 54.
