Program for Lorain Liedertafel 65th Anniversary Celebration 1865-1960. Held at Liedertafel Hall (Kelly Place and W 23rd St in Lorain).

Context

American citizens of German descent met September 1895 in the Friedel Hall. "The purpose of this gathering was to organize a German Singing Society for the advancement of German songs and music through concerts and other sociable doings and to spread and continue the German culture. "During this get-together it was decided to call the organization that was held being formed Gesangverein Lorain Liedertafel. The charter members of the society were Joseph Huber, George Schneider, Joseph Gurtsak, Victor Riedl, and William Conrad. "On April 13, 1914 the society made application to be incorporated and were incorporated under the name of Lorain Liedertafel. Ever since that time the organization has increased in membership."
