Oral history interview with Brother Carlos Parrilla. Brother Carlos was born in Puerto Rico and grew up in South Lorain. His parents were charter members of Sacred Heart Chapel in South Lorain. Brother Carlos and his siblings grew up playing music as a family. They were known as the "Parrilla Family Singers." He went to seminary school in Alabama for a few years before attending Admiral King High School (AKHS) and graduating from the first AKHS class. Brother Carlos joined the Brothers of Holy Cross after he graduated from high school and attended St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas. Throughout his time as a religious brother, Brother Carlos taught at Archbishop Hoban High School (Akron, OH), St. Joseph High School (South Bend, IN), St. Edward High School (Lakewood, OH), and Holy Cross College (Notre Dame, IN). He also worked as the Director of Religious Education at St. Mary's Parish (Lorain, OH) and as the Director of Hispanic Ministry for the Diocese of Charleston, South Carolina. Brother Carlos celebrated his 60th Diamond Jubilee on April 27, 2024.Collection
