"Patria Romana" Society was founded August 7, 1907 by a group of people from Transylvania which at that time belonged to Austria-Hungary. Of the original founders, there is only one still living, Mr. Patrick Vasu of Avon, O.
The first president was Mr. Teofil Pandrea and John Vasu vice president. John Steblea was secretary.
In December of 1912 another group of Romanian people started the Bihoreana Society. The two living founders, Mr. Nick Feher of Lorain, Ohio and Mr. John Dan of Detroit, MI. Mr. John Maghiar was president and Mr. Nick Groza was secretary.
In 1938 the two groups agreed to merge. The society is a non profit organization, it has a death benefit, sick and accident program. It also insures its membership through the central organization, known as the Union and league of Romanian Societies of America, Inc. with home offices in Cleveland, Ohio."Acquisition
