Oral history interview with Ricardo Robles to discuss his father's experiences in Lorain. Ricardo's father, Mauro Robles, came to Lorain from Mexico in the early 1940s as part of the Bracero Program. The Bracero Program was an agreement between the American and Mexican governments to bring able-bodied Mexican men to the U.S. for short-term work contracts during the World War II labor shortage. Mauro worked in Lorain for a few years before returning to Mexico after World War II ended. Mauro's positive experiences in Lorain influenced the trajectory of his life. He later moved to Los Angeles, California. Mauro started his own tortilla factory, La Reina. La Reina is still a successful family-run business based out of California.Collection
