Scope and Content

A black and white photograph on a postcard of St. Joseph's Hospital - Lorain, Ohio. Even though we have photos in the historical society's collection of early St. Joseph's Hospital, it is the correspondence on the back which made us decide to accession it. It reads: "Dear Friend, did you hear of the explosion here in Lorain it was on 17th Ave. Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock and a great many homes were destroyed it was dynamite exploded in a hardware store and one man's flesh was found in several different places it shook every house in the city".
