Narrative on the founding of Lorain Glass Company which had its 100th anniversary in 2024.Context
In June of 1924 Anthony Kosman was a 26-year old father to be employed as a stained-glass installer in the Northeast Ohio area. He left school in the 6th grade to start work and help provide for his struggling family.
Following the aftermath of the Lorain Tornado on June 28, 1924, Anthony saw an opportunity to help re-build the city. He owned his work truck, so he got behind the wheel and headed to Lorain where he helped area business owners dig out from the rubble the tornado had left behind. Through his work ethic and dedication, he earned their trust and started establishing relationships that were instrumental in the origin of Lorain Glass Company in 1924.
In 1984, the business name was changed to Lakeland Glass Company as a direct result of its continued growth and market opportunities.Acquisition
