Color Postcard - Surf at Breakwater (East Piers) 06/02/2021 AMS: cd08150966. Color Postcard, 1900-1905. Postcard reads: "SURF AT BREAKWATER, LORAIN, O." Written on back and transcription added to postcard page: "This picture was taken before the first breakwaters were built. The East piers got full force of the Northeasters. You can see the end of the government East pier and the River protections in foreground of picture wa the responsibility of the City of Lorain. Not having moey to fix it right, the Northeaster's broke through into the River several times and the debris had to be cleared out of the River. This incident was happening about 1900 to 1905. This incident was recalled by Lewis G. Goodell September 1977. Lewis G. Goodell was City Engineer of Lorain, Ohio" 10/27/2021 AMS: cd0819018.
