Description

This collection of photos features Mr. Leon Hogg, Community Photographer. In addition to working a full-time job at the Lorain steel mill, Mr. Hogg turned his love and passion for photography into a side business that left an enduring legacy. Mr. Hogg captured special moments like weddings, celebrations, historical events and more around the city and especially within the Black community for more than three decades. Much of his work was published in local newspapers. Ms. Kimberley Coleman (donor of the photo collection) recalls growing up with a camera following her around and says her grandfather taught her how to strike a pose. Mr. Hogg was the ultimate professional who knew how to get the perfect shot. He received many honors and accolades from Black community organizations, including the Lorain Chapter of the NAACP in 1981 and the Lorain County Alliance of Black School Educators in 1994. This photo of the wedding of Thomas and Kimberley Coleman (nee Hogg) was taken by Leon Hogg on September 5, 1992.
