Oral History Interview for Vine Avenue with Rigoberton Reveron
Rigoberto grew up in Humacao, Puerto Rico where his mother was a registered nurse at Rider Memorial Hospital. He learned English in Puerto Rico and, when Rigoberto was 10, his mother remarried, and they moved to Cleveland to live with his stepfather. He first came to Lorain around 1964 for the International Festival and recalled seeing Oakwood Park. He moved his family to Lorain in the 1970s when he got a job selling life insurance at Beneficial Insurance. Rigoberto was very active in the Lorain community and was involved in several organizations. He served several terms as 9th Ward City Councilman which served South Lorain. He was hired as a baseball coach for the Lorain Education Association, he was involved in CHIP (Coalition for Hispanic/Latino Issues and Progress), La Raza (National Council of La Raza), Lorain County Board of Elections, member of the Puerto Rican Home, and Sacred Heart Parish Council.Collection
