George was 14 at the time and recalls the weather conditions at the time of the tornado, path of the tornado, his cousin Donald Faragher being stuck in the bath house, damage to Cromwell Steel, swing bridge, flooding. Remembers a Naval Reserve Training Vessel that was moored in harbor getting the first call out for help. Remembers the Nickel Plate swing bridge disaster from that morning. Remembers sightseers being rounded up in a stockade and forced to work. Concludes: "Well, you find that now, as then, those who saw it and are casually asked are hard to shut up." George Crehore (author) was the son of George Crehore, Superintendent of Parks in Lorain, Ohio.
