Ramon Ramos (second from right) was Mauro's best friend in his early years in the U.S. Estela's father (far right) owned the tortilla factory. Mauro and Estela met while working at her father's tortilla factory. They would later marry in 1955.
Mauro came to Lorain as part of the World War II-era Bracero Program. He worked in Lorain for a few years before returning to Mexico. He later moved to Los Angeles and eventually started his own tortilla factory, La Reina.Collection
