Photo of Selective Service Card issued to Mauro Robles on December 20, 1951. Mauro received this card after he petitioned to receive U.S. citizenship in 1951. He formally received citizenship in 1964. Mauro carried this card with him in his wallet his whole life as a reminder of his commitment to the U.S. and readiness to serve the country during the Korean War. He was fortunately never called to duty during the Korean War.
Mauro came to Lorain as part of the World War II-era Bracero Program. He worked in Lorain for a few years before returning to Mexico. He later moved to Los Angeles and started his own tortilla factory, La Reina.Collection
