Oral history interview with Elizabeth "Betsy" Chinn Turner, member of the Lorain High Class of 1961. Betsy Turner, born November 30, 1943, in Pennsylvania, moved to Lorain at age two. Her parents, from Pennsylvania, settled in Lorain post-war. Betsy's mother traced her ancestry to the Mayflower and the Revolutionary War. Betsy's father had various jobs, including selling cars and insurance. Betsy's brother, an engineer, attended General Motors Institute. Betsy attended Lorain schools, including Fairhaven and Longfellow, and later studied Home Ec and Spanish at Baldwin Wallace. She taught Home Ec in Wickliffe and Livonia, Michigan, and later at Roper School. Betsy retired in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2001. Margaret Molnar and Betsy reminisce about their experiences, including Margaret's interest in UFOs and her involvement in making paper plate saucers. They discuss their varied educations, with Margaret highlighting her love for choir and orchestra. Betsy shares her passion for the violin, which she played at her husband's PhD party. They also talk about their early lives, including memories of wearing long sleeves for bomb drills and spending time at a polluted lake.
