Description

Photo of Mike Ferrer (center) dressed as Hideki Tojo during a 1981 Spirit of America reenactment show. Soldiers dressed as Adolf Hitler (right) and General George Patton (left) are also pictured. Mike and the two other reenactors are standing on a vehicle and waiting to line up for the show. They did not do their reenactments together. They were not in the same unit and did not know each other. Spirit of America is a show that reenacts U.S. wars and battles, demonstrates weapons, and highlights different branches and eras within the U.S. military. The soldiers in a Spirit of America show march around an arena. The main Spirit of America show is held once a year in Washington, D.C. at the Jefferson Memorial. Mike served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Commander-in-Chief's Guard, which was a special ceremonial unit involved in the Spirit of America reenactments. He participated in the main D.C. show as well as other traveling Spirit of America shows.
