Oral History or memoir of Lorain by Bob Kromer.Context
"I read in the paper about the fire in the building on 5th Street at the alley, and that not much was known about its early history. I peddled papers for the Lorain Times Herald about 1927. The Times Herald paper was in the building on the west side of Fifth Street Deli. The press was on the main floor in back and typesetting machines were upstairs.
"The Lorain Hardware building which had the top floor torn off in the tornado was just to the east side of the alley. That fourth floor was never put back on.
"Ed Lamp had a sand dock a the foot of 9th Street on Black River next to the railroad bridge. [describes incident where boat sunk]
"Burdett had the Ford Model T agency and he had a fallout with Henry Ford. He had to sell it to John Schmauch, was another Lorain yachtsman."
[Describes Ed Lamp suing Burdett for boat sinking. Court case. Burdett accidental death / suicide.]
