Mihaly (Michael) M. Barta was born in Hungary in 1875 and had been a printing apprentice in Budapest before finding work at Hungarian newspapers all over Europe. He came to the US around 1905 and began Lorain És Vidéke - Lorain & Vicinity in 1913. This was Northeast Ohio's only Hungarian Language newspaper. Upon Michael's death in 1934, his wife Rose (and son Andrew for a few years) continued the newspaper until her death in 1952. Lajos (Louis) P. Bodnar had been an apprentice press operator (beginning in 1927), becoming an editor by 1935, at Barta's print shop and bought the shop after Rosa's death, renaming it Bodnar's Printing Company. Lorain És Vidéke ceased publication in 1976 (or, 1978 according to the Library of Congress). He retired in 1980. (Louis Bodnar 1910-1994)Acquisition
