Context

In 1929, LCol CM Corkett championed the alliance between the Lancashire Fusiliers and the Peel and Dufferin Regiment. He had served with the 2nd Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers from 1915 until 1917. This cap badge is framed in the Corkett collection. The Lancashire Fusiliers were first formed in 1688 and saw service throughout the length and breadth of the British Empire. In 1966, they were amalgamated with the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers, The Royal Fusiliers and the Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers to form the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.
