Drawn in Vilvoorde, Belgium in 1945 by Col Louis Keene. Major Ward enlisted as a private in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in April 1941 and rose to the appointment of Company Sergeant Major by September of 1942. He was commissioned in March of 1943 and in August was posted to the 1st Canadian Army Headquarters Defence Company. He transferred to No 3 Non-Effective Transit Depot at the end of May 1944 and served with the Depot in France and Belgium until he was demobilised in September of 1945 with the rank of Major. He was awarded a Mention in Despatches for his service. Major Ward died in Burlington in May of 2000.
