Worn for ceremonial events

Context

The tunic is a carry on from the everyday 19th-century army uniform. British infantry wore red jackets with different coloured collars and cuffs (facings). The Royal Fusiliers wore blue blue facings to indicate that they were a Royal Regiment. The Royal Fusiliers were amalgamated into the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers in 1966. The Royal regiment of Fusiliers are the Allied regiment of the Lorne Scots.
