Bronze commemorative coin displaying on its obverse Samuel de Champlain arriving in Quebec in 1608 (Stadacone was the Iroquois village where Quebec City was founded). Weighing 300 grams and measuring 76.4 millimeters in diameter. Contains the Royal Ciphers of Henry IV (France) and Edward VII (UK).

Use

Minted in 1908 to commemorate the 300th anniversary (Tercentenary) of Quebec founding (1608-1908).

Context

The medal was engraved by Henri Dubois. This example was Issued to LCol WP Moore, Commanding Officer of the 20th Halton Regiment, Lorne Rifles 1907 - 1912.
