Captain Charles Ambler was a sales manager from Oakville, Ontario. In January of 1942, he enrolled in the 2nd Battalion of the Lorne Scots as a cadet/ provisional Lieutenant. On completion of officer training at Three Rivers (Trois-Rivieres), Quebec, he was promoted to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He was employed in staff roles at No 24 Basic Training Centre, A.11 Infantry Training Centre and at Military District No 2 Staff until the end of 1945. Except for his training at Three Rivers, all of his service was in Ontario. He was promoted to the rank of Captain shortly before being demobilized in October 1945.
