He states that his family's orchards were how they made their money and goes on to describe the process of harvesting and canning the fruit.
They purchased a ranch with thirty acres with the money his mother had earned as a professor. He describes his mother's strong personality and accomplishments, noting her proficiency with a gun and relaying a story of how she once held an intruder at gunpoint while Marvin ran to get the police. He states that his family's orchards were how they made their money and goes on to describe the process of harvesting and canning the fruit. Adams names several families he grew up with who became staples in the Los Altos community, such as the Shoups.Collection
