Kyle Family - Capitola Bakery wagon

Name/Title

Kyle Family - Capitola Bakery wagon

Entry/Object ID

SHU172

Description

William J. Kyle delivered his fresh baked goods in a state-of-the-art-fashion, circa 1910. Before coming to Los Gatos in 1900, he operated a restaurant and bakery in Capitola, and thus he called his Los Gatos enterprise the "Capitola Bakery." The bells on the horse's harness heralded the arrival of the bakery wagon, much like the mobile ice cream vendor of today. Notice the dirt street, wooden curb and hitching post. SHU172
