Isabella Kirkpatrick Tobin is pictured in the garden of her home at 128 East Main Street in about 1905. She was born in London in 1838 and emmigrated to Boston with her family when she was 5 years old. She was married to John H. Tobin and the mother of eight children, five surviving to adulthood. In addition to the three daughters who survived, she had two sons, Thomas and Paul. She died in 1917 at the age of 79. At the time of her death, her son Thomas D. Tobin was living in Butte, Montana. She was in failing health for some time before her death, according to the Los Gatos newspaper being published at that time. She died of pneumonia in her East Main Street home, and is buried in the family plot at Los Gatos Cemetary. Isabella's obituary states that "she was a cultured and estimable woman, with a large circle of friends." TOB022Collection
