Sophia La Montagne sold land at the corner of Los Gatos-Almaden Road and Union Avenue to the "We and Our Neighbors" social club for one gold dollar. Maria Schofield donated $2,650 to build a clubhouse on the property in 1910. Both the La Montagne and Schofield families were early settlers in the Union District, the former having arrivived as early as 1853. WE003Collection
