Los Gatos Chapter of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), Post No. 82, was organized by ex-Union solders on July 17, 1885. It was named for Union General Edward Otho Cresap Ord (1818-1883). The post led Memorial Day observances until their membership thinned. The last member died March 28, 1937 and the post ceased to exist. HC037
